[Makoto's story]
Makoto had a special ability congenitally. He was a "Psychometrer" who can read the memories of the objects touched with his right hand. His parents and the people around him were afraid of his abilities, so Makoto gradually began to avoid getting involved with people. He earns a living as a hacker include criminal acts, and he had been arrested by the police several times. At those time Makoto meets Inspector Furuta who belongs the Metropolitan Police Department. Furuta had saw Makoto ability, then he recruited Makoto as a special agent of Police Department.
His first mission as an investigator was the continuous murder incident in Hokkaido. All of these incidents occurred near historically valuable structures. Makoto attempted to read the memory of those structures. Though for his right hand it was difficult to read the memories of big things like buildings, the fifth incident site was near a small stone monument so Makoto could read the face of the criminal and he tried to track the criminal.
The criminal who Makoto chased had a special ability like Makoto, but unlike him he could stop the heart of others. Makoto heard the word "Portal" from the confronted criminal. The criminal has been arrested and the case has been settled, but Makoto remained a concern with the words left by the criminal.
[Sarah's story]
Sarah was able to see XM and Portals with her own eyes from childhood. Her parents and the people around her felt strange about her, so she spent her lonely childhood. By the incident that occurred at CERN in 2012 she knows the existence of XM and notices that it is related to her ability. After graduating from college she joined Hulong Transglobal, and at the Tokyo branch office, she was absorbed in XM's research and eventually provided herself as a subject.
Later Sarah met Liu Tien Hua at Hulong headquarters in China and she was asked by him to treat patients who were badly affected by XM experiments. She took the patients back to Tokyo and tried to treat them, and they recovered. However, she was unable to contact the patients who should have returned home, and she began secretly their investigation. And she learned that the thirteen treated patients were transferred to somewhere facility and they were called "subjects".
She wanted to save the patients, but she was monitored by Liu Tien Hua. She decided to fight against Hulong and to reveal their secrets.
[Jack's story]
Jack has the "Flash Forward" ability that can predict moments in the immediately after. Utilizing that capability, he had worked as a mercenary until five years ago. Five years ago Jack was asked to protect Christopher Brandt and met Brandt first time. Brandt is a very good scientist and he was able to amplify intelligence and creativity by the influence of XM. Jack was told from Brandt about XM, Sensitive, Resistance and Enlightened. And Jack learned that he can demonstrate his ability only within the Control Field of Resistance.
Brandt had previously provided technical support to Hulong Transglobal but he ceased to cooperate knowing that they are trying to exploit XM. His life is being threatened by Hulong. Brandt wanted to use his ability and XM technologies to save people around the world, and Jack wanted to keep Brandt's beliefs.
Brandt and Jack headed to one XM laboratory located 50 km west of Kiev, Ukraine. The laboratory was owned by the company developing Dark-XM weapons. Brandt developed the computer virus to destroy the laboratory's system and to uncover confidential information. Jack ingressed into the lab with fighting many mercenaries, and he connected the USB memory contains the virus to the lab computers. The strategy was successful, but Jack 's ability was known to the enemy. After that Brandt got something new information about Hulong, and headed for Japan with Jack.
